Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains what information AroundSpot holds about businesses listed on this site, where that information comes from, and what you can ask us to do about it. It also covers the limited information we handle about visitors to this website.

Who is responsible

AroundSpot is the controller of the information described in this policy. You can reach us at privacy@aroundspot.com.

Controller legal name and registered address to be published here before launch.

Business listings

What we hold

For each listed business we may hold: business name, category, street address, postcode, geographic coordinates, telephone number, website address, links to official social media profiles, links to third-party booking platforms, and a weekly opening-hours schedule where the business publishes one. We also hold technical records of when we last checked the business website and whether it responded.

Where a business is a sole trader or a partnership, some of this information may also be personal data relating to an individual. This policy applies in full to that information.

Where it comes from

We do not collect this information from you directly. Base listing data comes from the Overture Maps Foundation open dataset, published under a permissive licence. Opening hours, booking links and social profiles are read from the business's own publicly accessible website by our crawler, which is described on our crawler information page. Our crawler checks robots.txt before requesting any page and does not fetch pages that disallow it.

We do not collect reviews, ratings, photographs, or information from private or authenticated pages.

Why we hold it

To operate a directory that helps people find local businesses and the practical information needed to visit or contact them — address, phone number, opening hours and official booking links.

Lawful basis

Where this information is personal data, we rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR. Our interest is in operating an accurate public directory; the information concerns businesses in their commercial capacity and is already published by the business itself or by an open dataset; and the processing is limited to contact and operating details that a business publishes precisely so that customers can find it. We have carried out and documented a Legitimate Interests Assessment covering this.

Because we did not obtain this information from you, Article 14 UK GDPR would normally require us to notify each business individually. We rely on the exemption in Article 14(5)(b) — doing so for every listing would involve disproportionate effort — and we therefore publish this policy, keep it accessible from every page of the site, and operate a one-click correction and removal channel.

How long we keep it

For as long as the business is listed. If our crawler finds a business website unreachable on three consecutive checks, the listing is flagged and withdrawn from publication. If you ask us to remove a listing, we delete it and retain only the minimum record needed to prevent it being re-added by a future data import.

Website visitors

This site is a set of static pages. We do not set cookies, do not run advertising, and do not build profiles of visitors. Our hosting provider processes standard server request logs, including IP addresses, for security and delivery purposes.

To be updated if any analytics tool is added. A cookieless tool keeps this section — and the absence of a consent banner — accurate.

Who we share it with

We do not sell information and we do not share it with advertisers. Our hosting provider processes data on our behalf in order to serve this website. Listing pages link out to business websites and to third-party booking platforms; those are ordinary outbound links, and once you follow one you are on that provider's site under its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict how we use it, and — because we rely on legitimate interests — to object to our processing it at all.

The fastest route for all of these is our claim or remove page. We respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would prefer you contact us first so we can put it right.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
